Frequently asked questions

At Ms. Rachel's class, our journey together begins with a commitment to quality and integrity in everything we do. We believe in fostering a supportive community where every student feels valued and ready to learn. Our goal is to work hand-in-hand with families to ensure a successful and enriching school year.

What are the most important things you want parents to know about how you run your classroom and what you expect from students?

The most important things I want families to know about my classroom are that we focus on respect, kindness, and responsibility. Students are expected to try their best, participate in activities, and treat their classmates and teachers with respect. In our classroom, participation means trying and engaging in conversations and activities. Sometimes sharing ideas or speaking in front of others can feel uncomfortable, but we talk a lot about how we can do hard things. Our classroom is a safe place to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn from them, because mistakes are an important part of learning and growing.

How can families best support their child's learning and classroom expectations at home?

Families can support their child’s learning by encouraging positive habits at home, such as talking about their day, reading together, and practicing important skills. It also helps when families remind students about our classroom expectations of being respectful, kind, and responsible. Another important way to support learning is by encouraging your child to have a voice. Let them share their opinions, talk about their ideas, and express how they feel about things they are learning. When students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, it helps build confidence and strengthens their communication skills. Working together at home and at school helps students feel supported, confident, and ready to learn each day.

What are a few key rules that help make our classroom a great place for everyone to learn and feel safe?

A few key rules help make our classroom a safe and positive place for everyone to learn. One important rule is to be kind and respectful to everyone, including classmates, teachers, and ourselves. We also practice listening to others and not interrupting so that everyone has a chance to share their ideas and feel heard. Students are also expected to try their best and participate, even when something feels challenging. In our classroom we believe it is okay to make mistakes because that is how we learn and grow. We also work on taking care of our classroom and materials and keeping our hands, feet, and words safe. These rules help create a classroom where everyone feels safe, valued, and ready to learn together.
